Hello World!
Long story short
If I remember correctly, the first idea for this website came up in 2020. I began working on it quite fast, though in the end it took me five years and 3 or 4 attempts to finally have something I am happy with, and more importantly, that is made public.
What took me so long?
Well, I am a software developer and web designer, so I wanted to build my own website from scratch.
I also am an artist and perfectionist (it's getting better!) and sometimes tend to loose myself in small details of any kind. Including, but not excluding, aestethical, practical, philosophical and moral ones.
So I worked with different frameworks, blog systems, fiddled with colors and fonts, margins and paddings, servers and databases, ...
Loosing myself in the how and forgetting the why, I got frustrated and stopped working on the project. Then started from scratch a year or two later and repeated the process.
Finally!
But now it's there! And you read it!
Is it perfect? No! (Though what is a perfect website anyways?)
So, what am I going to do with it?
My plan is to publish stuff I'm interested in, am currently working on and share art that I have created and thoughts that keep wandering my mind.
Expect a broad range of topics, since I have interest in a lot of different fields.
I hope some of the content will be valuable to others. As knowledge, inspiration or just enjoying to read it.
Technical stuff
For those of you interested, I use Vue and Nuxt as a framework and the website statically generated (SSG).
Vue doesn't do much, since there is not much interactivity and reactive stuff right now, but I'm very familiar with it and it just helps me getting things done.
The site is hosted on Uberspace, which I cannot recommend enough. It is always a pleasure to use their service with fair pricing, direct SSH access, very good documentation and extremely helpful and friendly staff. If you don't know it yet, check it out!
In the end, I'm not using any blog system at all, I just write plain, good old HTML and CSS.
What a joy!
Verdict
Sometimes, done is better than perfect.
Sometimes it takes a lot longer for something to happen than one would have thought.
Maybe it's just good like this.
Have fun strolling around my website and do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, remarks or just want to say hello. I'd love to hear from you!
